Norwich Terrier question by aguy: How do i choose the best breeder for a Norwich Terrier?
Hello
I have decided to get a Norwich Terrier with my girlfriend.
I am the type of person who plans in advance so we will probably get it in about 1-2 years from now.
How to i choose the best breeder, i personally have a problem with breeders who are willing to ship the pup in a box to a person they have never meet. Do you think breeders who ship vs breeders who don’t have better quality puppies?
I have also heard that they are rare, is there a reason for that? Is there any problems i should know about?
I have heard that some breeders has sold fake Norwich Terriers with AKC papers, how do i avoid to that?

Look around for a breeder that is active in showing, health tests, and has an active interest in the breed. They will not have anymore than two litters a year, and all puppies are “sold” before they even breed the dog. Contact a local breed club for recommendations. The breeder should be interested in your home life, your wants/needs, and should ask questions about you. They will also have a spay/neuter contract for puppies sold as “pets” rather than show prospect.
They are rare because, well, there hasn’t been a lot of interest in them. They are terriers, and terriers can be pretty hardy. Norwich Terriers are prone to epilepsy, luxating patellas, hip dysplasia, and bad teeth.
