We have a yard but a smallish house so we can’t have a large dog, but are not too fond of tiny dogs.
any descriptions of their demeanor?

Yes, but it always depends on the dog. If you are briging it up from a puppy I would says yes, but if it is a rescue, bring it home first and associate it with the family, learn its behaviors and see how it does.

The Glen of Imal Terrier is a very ancient dog breed, and is very domesticated and easy to make house pets. Since they are more rare than other dog breeds, if you are familar with the Kerry Blue Terier, the Soft-Coated Wheaten or Irish Terriers they have close to the same temperment and behavior.

Norwich Terrier question by aguy

I have decided to get a Norwich Terrier with my girlfriend.

I am the type of person who plans in advance so we will probably get it in about 1-2 years from now.

How to i choose the best breeder, i personally have a problem with breeders who are willing to ship the pup in a box to a person they have never meet. Do you think breeders who ship vs breeders who don’t have better quality puppies?

I have also heard that they are rare, is there a reason for that? Is there any problems i should know about?

I have heard that some breeders has sold fake Norwich Terriers with AKC papers, how do i avoid to that?

Look around for a breeder that is active in showing, health tests, and has an active interest in the breed. They will not have anymore than two litters a year, and all puppies are “sold” before they even breed the dog. Contact a local breed club for recommendations.The breeder should be interested in your home life, your wants/needs, and should ask questions about you. They will also have a spay/neuter contract for puppies sold as “pets” rather than show prospect.

They are rare because, well, there hasn’t been a lot of interest in them. They are terriers, and terriers can be pretty hardy. Norwich Terriers are prone to epilepsy, luxating patellas, hip dysplasia, and bad teeth.

I’m looking into getting a border terrier. I know that purebreeds are rather expensive, but what is to cheap and what is to unreasonable of a price?
